The UK journalist Louise Callaghan of the Sunday Times brought us into contact with Amit. He was born in 1997 and went to Qatar in 2019. He worked in the Al Thumama stadium where the Netherlands played there opening game of the World Cup on November 21, 2022.
Amit was force to work between 12 and 20 hours each day in the burning sun. Because of the hard work in the severe circumstances Amit suffered kidney failure. Back in Nepal the nephrologist who treated him predicted he had 3 to 5 years left to live in he had to be treated with a dialysis 3 times every week. Only a kidney transplant could save his life. Together with Louise we approached both the English and Dutch football associations to ask for support for Amit. They both declined.
Luckily our foundation was able to collect the funds needed for the surgery of Amit. His mother was found as a donor and the surgery is planned in May 2024. Hopefully after a positive recovery Amit can be part of the Project Positive Perspective and we can help Amit find a job in Nepal.
